The dutch translation also makes it clear: The GB does not receive godly revelations and is not infallible.
Het Besturende Lichaam krijgt geen goddelijke openbaringen en is ook niet onfeilbaar.
study article: who is leading god's people today?
start of paragraph 12.. standard version: "the governing body is neither inspired nor infallible.
therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction.".
The dutch translation also makes it clear: The GB does not receive godly revelations and is not infallible.
Het Besturende Lichaam krijgt geen goddelijke openbaringen en is ook niet onfeilbaar.
i am a bit surprised to see what appears to be current and in-good-standing circuit overseers putting their resumes on linkedin.
www.linkedin.com/title/circuit-overseer.
do you know any of these, and are they legit?.
Some may be proud of a title, but many are on LinkedIn because they may need to get a real job in the future. An assignment is not future-proof anymore.
Where I live, in the Netherlands, a religious activity on your CV is not a recommendation. That is why many try to diffuse what their background is by using WTBTS, instead of the name Jehovah's Witnesses. The problem is that you have to explain a gap in your CV. Even Ex-JW's have this problem when they have been in Special Fulltime service.
this is absolutely feckin' priceless.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/videos/viewpoints-origin-of-life/petr-muzny-law-professor/.
in yet another appeal to authority, jw.org has trotted out a professional to vouch for creation.
this guy is a law professor.
This guy did the Bayatyan vs Armenia case on conscentious objection for the ECHR as a lawyer.
He did actually a good job, I was impressed by his plea. Hope he wakes up one day using logic.
This is what the local elders make of it. In my congregation a longtime respected elder was just removed from his privileges having his disfellowshipped son visiting him while he was recovering from a serious illness.
so me and my wife have not been on speaking terms for about 5 weeks, and when we do .
talk…it is arguing about the jw cult and more of a barrage from me telling here all the stuff i have learned.
i know i shouldn't do this....but, i get so freaking p.o ed aobut what this cult has done to my family.
I would be afraid of such a list too. This doesn't seem to be the list of someone who intends to do research for herself.
I am also in a situation where I brought up some troubling subjects to my wife and she seems to be writing her thoughs on paper too. However see writes at least the Bible verses down that help her to cope with my "serious doubts".
hi all, just recently i was thinking about the period of my study and eventual baptism as jw.
it took many years, i guess in all about 10 years.
various times i stopped the study but after a while it started again.
Reading the Arabic Bible, which was more literal translated than the NWT, opened up my eyes for quite a number of subjects. However, the Bible has so many horrible things in it, especially in the Mosaic law, that you cannot conceal those by translating it in a different way. So it was reading the Bible that helped me see ttatt.
in the netherlands, an action going on to get two brothers from sierra leone a residence permit.. the men fled the horrible civil war in their country when 14 and 11 years old.
without parents.. they have now lived in the netherlands more than half of their lives.
they are well educated, have nothing in sierra leone and everything in the netherlands.
I happen to know them, however they are actually from Nigeria, so Sierra Leone is a foreign country for them, like they say in the article.
gorby has had a personal paradigm shift lately.. from one point to an other i "feel" and "think" different about the jw subject.. - no more interest in doctrine.
- no more interest in things that happen 100 years ago into an religion.. - no more taking statements too serious.
it doesn't matter me at all what a generation doctrine change is all about, it doesn't matter me at all that brother elder said "blablabla boe!".
Since I have to stay in, because of my relatives, I do still care about it. I am looking for opportunities to wake them up. So I try to keep up with the developments and give them tidy bits of information.
this video showed a married brother with three children living in a nice domicile and working full time.
his employer demands that he change his working pattern such that it conflicts with his being able to attend wt meetings at the weekend.
the brother decides not to yield to his employer’s demand and is thus dismissed.. the brother seeks for work very actively over a significant period but without any alternative being found.
In this video too, a job offered was far away and thus refused. Why not show our beloved brothers and sisters that sometimes it is useful to be flexible and move to a place close to the job? That might not be possible for everyone, but for many it is.
I know a brother who was a farmer. He told me that he was frowned upon in the congregation, because he had to work at different times. You had to work part-time at an office in order to be a good witness... However he concluded that they did eat after all!
why not use a biblical example, like jacob when deceiving his father isaac?
jehovah himself seems to have no problem with deceiving.
or 1 kings 22:19-22 "who will deceive ahab?
Why not use a biblical example, like Jacob when deceiving his father Isaac? Jehovah himself seems to have no problem with deceiving. Or 1 Kings 22:19-22 "Who will deceive Ahab?" Oh, did I mention the GB?

Are we determined to avoid both lying and deception? (See paragraph 19)
19 For instance, a man tells his boss or fellow workers that he cannot be at work the next day or that he must leave early because he has a “medical” appointment. In fact, his “medical” appointment is merely a brief stop at a pharmacy or a quick visit to the doctor’s office to pay a bill. His real reason for not being at work is so that he can get a head start on a trip or so that he can take his family to the beach. There may have been a grain of truth in his mentioning a “medical” appointment, but would you say that he was being honest? Or was he being deceptive? You may know of similar instances of deliberate deception. Perhaps this is done to avoid punishment or to profit at others’ expense. Even if no outright lie is told, what of God’s direction: “You must not deceive”? Think, too, of Romans 6:19, which says: “Present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.”
